Lyle Bradley Brookman, 57, of Wayne City, Illinois, passed away at 10:05 am May 14, 2023 at Sparta Hospital in Sparta, Illinois He was born July 13, 1965 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Jerry and Merrillyn (Duncan) Brookman. Lyle married Ronda Brookman and she survives.

Lyle is survived by his children, Teresa Hails and husband, Casey of Bluford, Illinois, Danielle Thompson and fiancé, Jesse Greenwood of Woodlawn, Illinois, Emily Brookman and partner, Jared Kalpin of Fort Myers, Florida, Ethan Brookman and fiancée, Anna Corbier of Wayne City, Illinois; grandchildren, Peyton Reed, Trey Greenwood, Trenton Greenwood, Aidan Reed, Weston Hails, Tyce Greenwood, Laney Hails, Shyloh Hails, Brodie Greenwood, Avalynn Thompson, Ayla Brookman, Avery Brookman, Isabella Greenwood, Gabriella Greenwood, and Tucker Hails; grand dog, Sophie; siblings, Jerry Mel Brookman of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jena Schierbaum and husband, Glen of Opdyke, Illinois, and Brent Brookman and wife, Kathy of Bluford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Lyle's greatest joy in life came from spending cherished moments with his beloved family. His children and grandchildren filled his life with meaning and purpose, bringing him immense pride and fulfillment. Family gatherings, from holidays to birthdays and milestone celebrations, were the source of his driving purpose. He could fill any room he walked into with his presence, sense of humor, and boisterous personality. Lyle cherished the bonds he had with his loved ones and made it a priority to create lasting memories with each and every one of them. He beamed with pride when sharing the accomplishments and memories of his children and grandchildren.

Lyle devoted many years to working as a diesel mechanic and Union Millwright, being a proud member of the Local Union 1529. His dedicated work ethic and meticulous attention to detail brought him dignity and gratification. Over the years, these skills contributed significantly to his achievements.

Apart from his family, Lyle had two great loves: hunting and the Dallas Cowboys.

The great outdoors served as Lyle's sanctuary, providing solace and a deep connection to nature. Hunting and fishing were more than mere hobbies to him; they represented a profound way to immerse himself in the beauty of the natural world. Lyle passed on this love to his son and grandsons, creating lasting memories of learning patience, connecting with nature, and fostering camaraderie through hunting.

As an avid supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Lyle's loyalty and enthusiasm for his favorite football team knew no bounds. His love for the team and the sport brought him together with others, forging connections that extended beyond the football field.

Lyle embodied five core values that shaped his character: loyalty, spirituality, humility, compassion, and honesty. His unwavering loyalty to his family was a defining trait. He expressed gratitude to God each day for the blessing of his family. From a young age, Lyle's parents instilled in him a deep reverence for God, which remained a central aspect of his life. He once remarked, "My family is my purpose, my entire world. I firmly believe that I am exactly where God intended me to be."

Lyle exemplified humility and constantly acknowledged God's grace for granting him the ability to work diligently and provide for his loved ones. Lyle Brookman will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, faithful friend, assiduous craftsman, and passionate outdoorsman. A Visitation will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Harry Thomason officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
